Tester questions

For Tradeswomen

Curious about becoming a tester? Here is what to expect.

Who can apply to M.O.B. Tested?

M.O.B. Tested is open to women age 18 and older who work in environments where tools, PPE, workwear, and other jobsite products are part of the job. That includes hands-on trades and field roles as well as positions such as safety and operations.

Do I need a social media following?

No. We are looking for relevant work experience and thoughtful feedback, not follower counts. You are not expected to promote a product just because you tested it.

How are testers selected?

We match each opportunity based on factors such as your role, experience, location, size, and how relevant the product is to your work. Not every applicant will be selected for every test, and being selected once does not guarantee selection for future campaigns.

What happens if I am selected?

We will send the campaign details, confirm any sizing or shipping information, and let you know exactly what is expected. Once the product arrives, you will use it as you normally would during the testing period.

How long does testing take?

Most products are tested for about 30 days, although some campaigns may be shorter or longer depending on the product. You will receive the full timeline before you agree to participate.

What will I be asked to do?

Use the product in real working conditions whenever reasonably possible, follow the provided instructions and workplace safety rules, and complete the required check-ins or final review by the stated deadlines. The exact questions vary by product.

Do I have to give the product a positive review?

Absolutely not. Positive, negative, and mixed feedback are all valuable. We want to know what worked, what did not, and what you would change.

Are photos, videos, or social posts required?

A written review is required. Photos and videos are optional unless a specific campaign says otherwise, and posting on your own social channels is not required.

Do I keep the product?

Usually, yes. Unless your campaign invitation says otherwise, the product is yours to keep after you complete the required feedback. If you withdraw before finishing, you may be asked to return it at M.O.B.'s expense.

What if I have a safety concern?

Stop using the product immediately and contact Move Over Bob. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, your employer's policies, and the safety requirements that apply to your work.

Will brands receive my personal information?

Brands receive compiled scores, themes, and findings, not your personal contact information. Your feedback or submitted content may be shared in anonymized or attributed form according to the campaign terms and your content permissions.

Partner questions

For Brands

Considering a M.O.B. Tested campaign? Here is how the partnership works.

What is M.O.B. Tested?

M.O.B. Tested is Move Over Bob's product testing and field insights program. We connect brands with women who use products in real working environments, manage the testing process, and turn their experiences into structured, actionable feedback.

Who are the testers?

Our community includes women working across construction, manufacturing, utilities, safety, facilities, transportation, and other field-based environments. Testers represent different regions, experience levels, roles, body types, and product needs.

What kinds of products can be tested?

Common categories include workwear, boots, PPE and safety equipment, hand and power tools, jobsite accessories, and personal care products designed for working environments. If you are not sure whether your product fits, ask us.

Can we choose the testers?

You can tell us who the product is designed for and what kinds of users would be most relevant. Move Over Bob handles recruitment and makes the final selections so the match stays credible and independent.

How many testers are included?

Tester count is set for each campaign based on the product, goals, sizes, use cases, and available inventory. We confirm the group size and selection criteria before the campaign begins.

How long does a campaign take?

Most testing periods run for about 30 days, but timing can vary by product. The complete schedule includes planning, matching, fulfillment, testing, feedback collection, and reporting, and is confirmed upfront.

What does Move Over Bob handle?

We define the test with you, recruit and match participants, coordinate sizing and fulfillment, communicate with testers, collect structured feedback, and prepare the final report. Your team provides the products, product instructions, and any necessary safety information.

What feedback will we receive?

Campaigns combine quantitative scoring with written insights about real-world use. Depending on the product, the report may cover fit, comfort, quality, durability, functionality, problems, comparisons, recommendations, purchase intent, tester demographics, and usage context.

Will we receive tester names or contact information?

No. Brand reports use aggregate findings and representative anonymized quotes. Any use of a tester's name, identifiable image, or direct quote in a brand's external marketing requires the appropriate permission.

What does it cost to participate?

Each campaign is scoped individually based on the product, testing goals, number of testers, timeline, logistics, and deliverables. Brands supply the products for testing, and shipping arrangements are confirmed as part of the campaign scope.

Does participation guarantee a positive review?

No. M.O.B. Tested is designed to collect honest feedback, not guarantee endorsements. A useful campaign may include positive findings, challenges, and specific opportunities to improve the product.

Can brands control what gets published?

No. Brands can provide input on testing goals and evaluation criteria and can help verify product facts and safety information, but Move Over Bob maintains editorial independence. Tester opinions and conclusions are not changed simply because a brand disagrees with them.

Can we use the findings in our own marketing?

Brand use is defined in the campaign agreement. Aggregate findings and scores may generally be used with attribution to M.O.B. Tested, while identifiable tester quotes, photos, or videos require separate permission.

Can you test a pre-release or confidential product?

Potentially. Pre-release or proprietary products require an appropriate confidentiality agreement before the campaign begins, along with clear product instructions and safety information.
